About the Client

The client is a European multinational energy distribution organisation with a strong operational footprint across over 30 countries, largely focused on emerging markets.

 

The Challenge

The company wanted to set up a Greenfield Global Capability Centre (GCC) in India to support their global operations. As part of an accelerated expansion strategy, they wanted to hire a wide range of specialized roles across finance, operations, oil trading, non-ferrous metal trading, technology and legal.

The client faced multiple barriers while building this centre:

  • Candidate Hesitation: Many professionals, in an already niche and limited talent pool, were hesitant to join a global capability services setup during its early stages.
  • Low Brand Awareness: Highly skilled professionals were unfamiliar with the organisation, given its primary focus on emerging markets.
  • Rapid Expansion: The client needed to rapidly migrate complex, business-critical roles to India to support global growth.

 

The Solution: How Michael Page Helped  

  • By embedding ourselves deeply into the market, we leveraged deep sector knowledge to position the opportunity compellingly to candidates.
  • We then mapped talent and executed targeted searches across relevant industries.
  • Through multiple sourcing channels such as third-party job boards and our own candidate database, we delivered consistent, high-quality shortlists.

 

The Result

We successfully closed 35–40 roles across hierarchies- from operations analysts to the Centre Head. Over 70% of the mandates were fulfilled with a near 100% interview conversion rate, building a strong relationship with the client backed by trust, with candidates often progressing directly to interviews based on recommendations alone.
