Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

- Build Core Services: Build one of UAI's control-plane services (Registry, Trust Server, Audit Ledger) or its Seeker and Provider SDKs, end to end in Go: REST APIs, PostgreSQL, Redis. Work in a small team and own your area with minimal supervision.

- Implement Trust Primitives: Work hands-on with the cryptography at the heart of the platform: Ed25519 signatures, DIDs, Verifiable Credentials, and short-lived signed tokens, using and extending our shared libraries.

- Own Quality: Write unit and integration tests for everything you ship and meet strict quality gates (linting, security scanning, conformance suites in CI).

- Write As You Build: We are handbook-first. Decisions, designs, and runbooks are written down; if it is not written, it does not exist. You will produce design notes, ADRs, and runbooks as part of normal work.

- Review and Secure: Review your pair's code and keep the security bar high: input validation, secrets handling, careful error paths.

- Flag Early: Raise gaps and risks as soon as you see them instead of coding around them.

The Successful Applicant

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Education & Experience: 6+ years of hands-on experience building backend services. A bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or a related field is expected (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Go Proficiency: Strong production Go. Clean, tested, idiomatic code, and the ability to debug tricky issues in services under load.
  • Data Stores: Solid PostgreSQL, comfortable with Redis.
  • Cloud Experience: Have shipped and operated services on a major cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Security & Auth: Working knowledge of TLS, JWT, and OAuth2 or OIDC, plus a security mindset in everyday coding.
  • Independence: Can take a problem and run with it, asking sharp questions early. We keep handholding low by design.
  • Written Communication: Strong writing. Your docs, ADRs, and reviews should stand on their own.
  • Bonus: W3C DIDs or Verifiable Credentials; JOSE internals, DPoP, HTTP message signatures, or JSON canonicalization (JCS); experience in payments, fintech, or other regulated, high-trust systems; open source work in Go.
