Job Description

Reporting into the senior engineering leadership team, the Principal Architect will own the technical direction of the company's platform and serve as the highest technical authority across architecture and distributed systems design.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Define the long-term architectural roadmap across platform, infrastructure, AI serving, data pipelines, and enterprise integrations.
  • Design highly scalable, secure, and resilient distributed systems capable of supporting rapid business growth.
  • Lead architecture reviews and establish engineering standards, design principles, and technical governance.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Machine Learning teams to translate complex business problems into scalable technical solutions.
  • Drive platform reliability, observability, performance, and technical quality across the engineering organisation.
  • Architect multi-tenant SaaS and enterprise deployments across cloud, private cloud, and customer-controlled environments.
  • Mentor senior engineers and influence technical direction across multiple engineering teams.
  • Identify and eliminate architectural bottlenecks before they become scaling constraints.



The Successful Applicant

We are looking for an accomplished technical leader who combines exceptional architectural thinking with deep hands-on engineering expertise.

You will bring:

  • 10+ years building large-scale software platforms, including experience as a Principal Engineer, Principal Architect, Staff Engineer, Distinguished Engineer, or equivalent.
  • Deep expertise designing distributed systems, microservices, event-driven architectures, and cloud-native platforms.
  • Strong experience building large-scale B2B SaaS, enterprise software, or data-intensive platforms.
  • Expertise across AWS and/or Azure, Kubernetes, modern backend architectures, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience designing highly reliable systems with strong observability, fault tolerance, scalability, and operational excellence.
  • Strong understanding of data processing platforms, document pipelines, search technologies, and enterprise integrations.
  • The ability to influence technical direction across multiple engineering teams without relying on organisational authority.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical decisions for both technical and business stakeholders.
