The role will be responsible for ensuring uninterrupted material availability, supplier performance, inventory optimization, and seamless support to production operations.

Job Description

  • Lead plant procurement activities to ensure uninterrupted material supply to manufacturing operations.
  • Drive material fulfilment, supplier performance, and inventory optimization initiatives.
  • Manage direct material sourcing across multiple commodities and supplier categories.
  • Collaborate closely with Production, Planning, Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams.
  • Develop and strengthen supplier relationships while ensuring quality, delivery, and cost objectives are met.
  • Monitor material requirements, supplier capacities, and inventory levels to support production plans.
  • Drive supplier audits, risk mitigation initiatives, and business continuity planning.
  • Support localization, cost reduction, and value engineering initiatives.
  • Track and improve key supply chain metrics such as inventory turns, OTD, DIO, and service levels.
  • Lead and develop a team while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

The Successful Applicant

A successful GM Material Planning should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 18+ years of experience in plant procurement, materials management, or manufacturing supply chain roles.
  • Strong experience in direct material procurement within automotive, industrial, engineering, electrical, or manufacturing organizations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in material planning, inventory management, supplier development, and production fulfilment.
  • Hands-on experience managing supplier performance, capacity planning, and procurement operations in a plant environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management, leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and supply chain performance metrics.
  • Experience working in high-volume manufacturing environments will be preferred.
