Job Description

Key Responsibilities

* Design, develop, review, and deliver high-quality software solutions while adhering to coding standards, documentation practices, and configuration management processes.

* Provide technical leadership and hands-on contribution throughout the software development lifecycle.

* Design scalable, maintainable, and high-performing software solutions within a monolithic architecture.

* Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Engineering teams to estimate effort and deliver high-quality features.

* Lead system design discussions and ensure adherence to engineering best practices and design patterns.

* Optimize application performance by identifying bottlenecks related to database access, application design, and system architecture.

* Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues in collaboration with Service Delivery and Production Support teams.

* Drive continuous improvements in software quality, engineering processes, and development standards

The Successful Applicant

We're looking for someone who has:

* B.E./B.Tech/MCA or equivalent.

* 8+ years of hands-on experience in Java application development.

* Experience in Financial Services, Wealth Management, Banking, or Insurance is preferred.

* Proven experience in designing enterprise-scale software solutions and mentoring development teams.

* Strong hands-on expertise in Core Java and enterprise Java application development.

* Strong experience working in monolithic enterprise applications

* Excellent understanding of System Design, object-oriented design principles, and software architecture.

* Strong knowledge of Design Patterns and their practical implementation.

* Strong expertise in Oracle and/or MySQL, including database fundamentals.

* Hands-on experience in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries.

* Experience in database design, performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and resolving database locking issues.

* Understanding of Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs), including:

o Performance tuning o Scalability

o Application security o Database locking and concurrency

o Reliability and maintainability

* Experience with PostgreSQL, including designing and optimizing schemas and SQL queries for complex business logic, financial calculations, and reporting.

* Exposure to frontend technologies such as React or Angular is desirable.

* Familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines is desirable.

* Experience with automated testing and software quality practices.

* Exposure to AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor is desirable.

* Excellent analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.

* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

* Proven ability to mentor engineers and build high-performing development teams.
