This role combines technical leadership, product innovation, and engineering team development within a global industrial engineering environment.

About Our Client

Our client is a global engineering organization with over five decades of expertise in designing and manufacturing critical mechanical power transmission products for industrial applications. The company is establishing a dedicated R&D capability in India to drive product innovation, develop next-generation technologies, and strengthen its global engineering footprint.

Job Description

  • Build and lead the India R&D function, including hiring, mentoring, and developing a high-performing engineering team.
  • Drive end-to-end new product development from market need, concept creation, engineering, validation, industrialization, and commercial launch.
  • Develop new mechanical products and technologies while defining the product roadmap in line with business and customer requirements.
  • Lead product validation, testing, reliability improvement, and engineering governance to ensure robust product performance.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, sourcing, quality, sales, and global engineering teams to industrialize new products and support commercialization.
  • Establish engineering processes, R&D best practices, and a culture of innovation to support long-term product development capability.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 15+ years of experience in industrial product development, including at least 5 years leading an R&D or product development function. The individual should have demonstrated ownership of true end-to-end new product development, taking products from market requirement through design, validation, industrialization, and commercial launch. Experience within power transmission, industrial gearboxes, rotating equipment, turbines, compressors, capital equipment, heavy engineering, or engineer-to-order businesses is highly preferred. Candidates should have proven experience building and mentoring engineering teams.
