Our client is looking for an experienced procurement leader to drive material availability, supplier performance, inventory optimization and procurement operations for a large manufacturing facility. The role requires close collaboration with Production, Planning, Stores, Logistics, Quality and Engineering teams. This is a hands-on leadership position focused on execution, fulfilment and operational excellence rather than pure strategic sourcing.

Job Description

  • Ensure uninterrupted availability of raw materials, consumables and bought-out components.
  • Lead plant procurement activities aligned with production and fulfilment requirements.
  • Manage and develop a large supplier network while driving delivery, quality and cost performance.
  • Monitor inventory levels and implement replenishment strategies to balance service levels and working capital.
  • Drive inventory optimization initiatives through Min-Max, VMI, JIT and similar models.
  • Lead procurement governance, negotiations, RFQs and supplier agreements.
  • Partner closely with Manufacturing, Planning, Stores, Logistics, Quality and Engineering teams.
  • Develop alternate sourcing strategies and mitigate supply continuity risks.
  • Drive procurement process improvements, lead-time reduction and operational efficiency initiatives.

The Successful Applicant

A successful GM- Procurement should have:

  • 20-25 years of experience in manufacturing procurement environments.
  • Strong experience in plant procurement, material fulfilment and supplier management.
  • Proven track record of supporting manufacturing operations through effective procurement execution.
  • Experience managing large supplier ecosystems and driving supplier performance.
  • Strong exposure to inventory management, replenishment planning and working capital optimization.
  • Demonstrated capability in vendor development, alternate sourcing and risk management.
  • Experience in industries such as Automotive, Auto Components, Electrical Equipment, Industrial Manufacturing, Consumer Durables or Engineering Manufacturing.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work across multiple plant functions.
