Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement legal policies, standards, and frameworks aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and monitor compliance systems to ensure adherence to Indian and international pharmaceutical regulations.
  • Act as Board Secretary and oversee corporate governance, board processes, and statutory compliance.
  • Advise senior leadership on legal risks, strategic transactions, licensing, partnerships, and regulatory matters.
  • Lead litigation and dispute resolution matters while managing relationships with regulators and external legal counsel.
  • Review, negotiate, and finalize commercial contracts, including supply, distribution, licensing, and strategic partnership agreements.
  • Oversee intellectual property protection, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
  • Lead and develop the legal team, driving high performance, capability building, and continuous improvement.
  • Key responsibilities include overseeing contract negotiations, regulatory compliance, intellectual property protection, and dispute resolution. The role also involves liaising with Indian authorities.

The Successful Applicant

A successful General Counsel should have:

  • A degree in law from a recognized institution.
  • Proven experience in corporate law, regulatory compliance, M&A, contracts, litigation, and intellectual property management.
  • Strong knowledge of Indian pharmaceutical and healthcare regulations.
  • Experience within manufacturing or other highly regulated industries is preferred.
  • Practical understanding of GMP, GLP, ISO standards, import/export regulations, and international regulatory frameworks such as WHO, ICH, and PIC/S.
  • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, risk assessment, and executive communication skills.
