Job Description

  • Lead the demand-side engineering charter, owning customer-facing systems across discovery, search, recommendations, checkout, payments, and post-booking experiences.
  • Build and scale high-performance, consumer-grade platforms that drive acquisition, retention, and engagement across a global user base.
  • Design and evolve scalable product architectures powering seamless and reliable customer journeys at scale.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Design, Data, and Growth teams to translate user needs into impactful, measurable experiences.
  • Drive technical excellence, team leadership, and engineering culture while mentoring engineers and raising the bar for execution and craft.

The Successful Applicant

  • 8-12 years of software engineering experience, including at least 2+ years in a technical leadership role managing engineering teams.
  • Deep backend system design and architecture expertise, with strong experience building scalable, high-performance distributed systems and micro-services.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerized infrastructure using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Proven ability to design, build, and operate reliable backend systems focused on scalability, performance, and resilience at consumer internet scale.
  • Strong product and business intuition, with the ability to translate customer needs and growth goals into effective engineering execution and technical decisions.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with a passion for mentoring engineers and building high-performing, inclusive teams.
  • Prior experience in consumer-tech or marketplace-driven products is highly desirable, especially in fast-paced, high-scale user-facing environments.
