Job Description

Architecture and Design

  • Own the technical direction and system design of core payment modules. Ensure systems are highly available, scalable, fault tolerant, and optimized for low latency and high authorization success rates.



Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers. Define engineering best practices, conduct code reviews, and drive a culture of quality and ownership. Implement Agile methodologies and encourage practices such as test-driven development.



Hands-on Development

  • Actively contribute to the codebase. Solve complex engineering problems, review critical components, and ensure high-quality deliverables.



Payment Integrations

  • Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to integrate APIs, webhooks, and external payment gateways. Ensure smooth interoperability across multiple financial systems.



Security and Compliance

  • Ensure systems meet stringent security standards and regulatory requirements such as PCI-DSS and OWASP guidelines. Drive secure coding practices and data protection strategies across the team.



Performance and Reliability

  • Continuously monitor, optimize, and improve system performance. Build systems that can handle high throughput with minimal downtime.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Tech Lead should have:

Experience

  • 6 to 10+ years of overall software engineering experience with 2 to 4 years in a technical leadership role. Experience in fintech, payments, or banking systems is strongly preferred.



Technical Skills

  • Strong hands-on expertise in backend development using Java with Spring Boot, Node.js, or Go. Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and API design.



Database and Cloud

  • Experience with relational databases, schema design, query optimization, and caching strategies. Good working knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.



Leadership Skills

  • Proven ability to lead and scale engineering teams. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.



Problem Solving

  • Ability to think critically, solve complex system challenges, and make sound technical decisions in high-impact environments
