About Our Client

Our client is one of India's largest Cold Storage and Controlled Atmosphere facility operators. They have a fully integrated cold chain from farm to retail with Pan-India marketing and distribution network.

Job Description

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain Controlled Atmosphere (CA) storage systems to ensure optimal gas composition (O2, CO2, N2) for apple and fruit preservation.
  • Oversee day-to-day operation of refrigeration systems including compressors, condensers, evaporators, and associated controls; ensure temperature and humidity targets are consistently met.
  • Operate and manage apple Sorting/ grading packing, MAF machine and related equipment in coordination with the packhouse team.
  • Lead all preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities for mechanical plant and equipment including refrigeration units, compressors, cold room doors, conveyor systems, and packhouse machinery.
  • Provide overall supervision of the technical team; assign daily and weekly tasks, monitor execution, and ensure adherence to SOPs and safety protocols.
  • Coordinate with internal team members (operations, quality, logistics) and external vendors/contractors for any assigned technical or maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance logs, equipment history cards, and spare parts inventory; ensure critical spares are always in stock.
  • Prepare and present daily/weekly technical reports to the Plant Head / GM Operations.
  • Manage AMC vendors and third-party service providers; evaluate their performance and ensure service quality.
  • Train and develop junior technical staff and operators to build team capability.

The Successful Applicant

  • B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university (mandatory).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in cold chain, food processing, horticulture post-harvest, or industrial refrigeration plant operations.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience operating CA (Controlled Atmosphere) stores and refrigeration systems.
  • Proven experience operating and troubleshooting MAF / Sorting grading/packaging machines.
  • Strong knowledge of refrigeration thermodynamics, compressor systems, cooling tower operations, and AMC management.
  • Ability to work in remote hill station environments; must be willing to be stationed at Rampur, Himachal Pradesh.
