Go beyond consolidated numbers to project-level financials, and identify red flags such as aggressive accounting, hidden leverage, related-party dependencies, and promoter risk.Contract & Bond Structure: Review Read and interpret tender documents and underlying contracts to identify what exactly is being guaranteed and what could trigger a claim. Evaluate the purpose, structure, and invocation risk of all bond types - performance, advance payment, maintenance, bid, retention, DSRA, customs, and arbitration bonds - before business is written.Portfolio Management & Monitoring: Own the health of the companies surety portfolio - tracked by contractor, group, project, employer, and sector. Build early-warning indicators and act on them. Recommend whether limits should be increased, maintained, tightened, or withdrawn - well before invocation risk surfaces.Underwriting & System Building: Convert practical judgement into structured underwriting rules, pricing principles, and system controls. Build frameworks that are repeatable and scalable - so the business grows without becoming dependent on any one individual. Train and upskill internal teams over time.Risk Control Framework - Develop underwriting frameworks for performance, advance payment, maintenance, bid and other surety bonds. Build early-warning indicators covering cash flows, receivables, delays, cost overruns, bank limit utilization, litigation and employer conduct.Market Engagement: Participate in conversations with contractors, brokers, and project owners - bringing risk credibility.
