The Head - Legal is responsible for leading the legal function of this Invit/ ReiT, serving as the principal legal advisor to the Executive Leadership Team and Board. The role drives legal strategy, enterprise risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, litigation management, commercial contracting, and governance to enable business growth while safeguarding the organization's interests.

Job Description

1. Legal Advisory

* Provide legal advice to the leadership team on strategic, commercial and operational matters.

* Partner with business functions to enable compliant and commercially sound decision-making.

* Identify legal risks and recommend practical mitigation measures.

2. Commercial Contracts

* Lead drafting, review and negotiation of high-value commercial agreements, including leasing, development, procurement, technology and strategic partnerships.

* Establish contract governance standards and improve contract turnaround timelines.

3. Litigation & Dispute Management

* Oversee the organization's litigation portfolio and define dispute resolution strategy.

* Manage external counsel and ensure timely, cost-effective resolution of legal matters.

* Monitor legal exposure and provide regular updates to leadership.

4. Regulatory & Legal Compliance

* Ensure compliance with applicable corporate, commercial, real estate and other statutory laws.

* Monitor regulatory developments and implement necessary legal and compliance changes.

* Support internal audits, investigations and regulatory inspections.

5. Real Estate & Business Transactions

* Lead legal support for acquisitions, asset management, redevelopment projects and strategic transactions.

* Oversee legal due diligence, title verification and transaction documentation.

* Advise on complex property, leasing and development matters.

6. Corporate Governance

* Provide legal support to the Board and Executive Leadership on governance matters.

* Oversee the Company Secretarial function to ensure timely statutory filings, Board processes and compliance with Companies Act, SEBI and REIT Regulations.

7. Policies & Risk Management

* Develop and review legal policies, Delegation of Authority and governance frameworks.

* Strengthen enterprise legal risk management and compliance processes.

* Promote ethical business practices and legal awareness across the organization.

8. Team Leadership

* Lead and develop the Legal and Company Secretariat teams.

* Build functional capability, drive process improvements and optimize external legal spend.

The Successful Applicant

We're looking for someone who has:

  • A degree in law or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of property and real estate laws.
  • 15+ years of experience
  • Experience in contract drafting and negotiation.
  • Confidence working with compliance and regulatory frameworks.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
