Our client is a global reinsurance firm that has recently set up its establishment in GIFT City, India

Job Description

A. Regulatory & Compliance Oversight

  • Act as the Principal Officer as defined by IFSCA regulations for IIO entities
  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable laws
  • IFSCA Insurance Intermediaries & Reinsurance Entity Regulations
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for IFSCA and other regulatory bodies
  • Oversee regulatory filings, returns, audits, and inspections



B. Strategic Leadership & Business Development

  • Lead the setup, operations, and strategic direction of the organisation's GIFT City branch
  • Drive portfolio development in key lines of reinsurance business across India and international markets permitted in GIFT City
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with cedents, brokers, and market partners
  • Support the organisation's regional underwriting strategy and business objectives



C. Underwriting & Risk Management

  • Oversee underwriting quality, pricing discipline, and adherence to the organisation's global underwriting framework
  • Identify and evaluate growth opportunities while maintaining prudent risk appetite
  • Ensure strong exposure management, risk controls, and technical underwriting governance



D. Operations & Financial Management

  • Lead day-to-day branch operations, ensuring operational excellence and adherence to internal standards
  • Oversee financial performance, revenue targets, and expense management
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with the organisation and regulatory requirements



E. Governance, Culture & People Leadership

  • Foster a culture of integrity, accountability, and client-centricity
  • Lead recruitment, training, and development of the local team as required
  • Implement policies on risk, compliance, conduct, and internal controls
  • Uphold organisation's global values and ethical standards

The Successful Applicant

  • Minimum 10-15 years of relevant experience in insurance or reinsurance, with proven leadership experience
  • Strong understanding of reinsurance business (acumen across both General and Life will be advantageous), underwriting practices, and portfolio management
  • Demonstrated experience interfacing with Indian regulatory authorities (IFSCA/IRDAI preferred)
  • Eligible under IFSCA regulations to be appointed as Principal Officer of an IIO
  • Strong analytical, managerial, and communication skills
  • Experience working in multinational organisations is preferred
