Job Description

  • Design and implement observability solutions to monitor IT systems and applications effectively.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define monitoring requirements and ensure system reliability.
  • Optimise existing monitoring tools and processes to improve system performance and reduce downtime.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, alerts, and visualisations to track key performance metrics.
  • Analyse system logs and telemetry data to identify and troubleshoot issues proactively.
  • Participate in incident management and post-incident reviews to enhance observability practices.
  • Stay updated with the latest observability tools and technologies to drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical support and training to teams on observability tools and best practices.

The Successful Applicant

A successful IT Observability Engineer should have:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or similar technologies.
  • Strong understanding of system monitoring, logging, and telemetry practices.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Shell, or similar.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and containerisation technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and resolving system issues.
