This role is responsible for establishing, standardising, and continuously improving engineering processes, methods, and tools across the organisation's product development lifecycle. The position drives digitalisation, best practices, and capability building to ensure predictable, high-quality, and scalable engineering outcomes.

Job Description

  • Own and drive the enterprise PLM strategy, including implementation, integration, and adoption.
  • Integrate CAD/CAE ecosystems and establish a seamless digital thread from design to manufacturing and validation.
  • Define and institutionalise engineering development processes aligned to NPD, APQP, and stage-gate frameworks.
  • Standardise design practices including DFMEA, DVP&R, and reusable design/process libraries.
  • Enable simulation-led design and build engineering competency frameworks across teams.
  • Drive lean engineering initiatives to reduce development cycle time and improve first-time-right.
  • Define the roadmap for CAD, CAE, PLM, and digital manufacturing tools, including evaluation of emerging technologies such as AI and generative design.
  • Establish engineering KPIs, governance mechanisms, audits, and maturity assessments across plants.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Head of Engineering Excellence should have:

  • 15-18 years of experience in engineering processes, methods, or digital engineering within automotive or manufacturing environments.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
  • Strong hands-on experience with PLM systems, CAD/CAE tools, and end-to-end product development lifecycle (APQP / Stage-Gate).
  • Process design and governance, systems thinking, digital engineering integration, and continuous improvement (Lean / Six Sigma mindset).
  • Proven stakeholder management, change management, training enablement, and strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to travel locally and globally as required.
