The role holder will be accountable for driving both top-line growth and bottom-line profitability for the Apparel category. This includes leading strategic initiatives to enhance revenue, margins, and overall customer experience within the assigned business segment.

Our client is large Indian retail chain based out of Gurgaon

Job Description



  • Develop and implement the category strategy in alignment with overall business objectives


  • Own and manage the category P&L, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance monitoring


  • Lead assortment planning, range architecture, and seasonal planning calendars


  • Drive product enhancement, innovation, and introduction of newness


  • Maintain strong awareness of trends and conduct competitive bench marking


  • Monitor sell-through performance, inventory health, stock turns, and markdown optimisation


  • Ensure adherence to business processes and GRC compliance standards


  • Continuously improve category processes and best practices


  • Lead, coach, and develop the category team


  • Collaborate closely with Design, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Marketing, VM, and Store Operations teams



The Successful Applicant

15-20 years of total work experience with prior experience in category management (min 5 years) for similar sized business
Some exposure to developing private labels or private brands
Graduate or Post Graduate from NIFT is preferred
