Job Description

Strategy Development & Business Planning

  • Understand the business strategy for the company and derive implications for the IT function, outlining infrastructure, application, and data requirements.
  • Interact regularly with user functions to understand their evolving IT requirements and recommend solutions for design/upgrade/implementation of IT applications, systems, processes, and IT infrastructure.
  • Request management approvals by developing detailed plans for setting up new hardware and software capabilities as per requirements.
  • Scan the IT market for the latest trends and products/services and make suitable recommendations post cost-benefit analysis.



Financial Management

  • Develop the annual IT budget and decide on the allocation for various activities; monitor adherence of the various activities towards the budget.
  • Negotiate with vendors to finalize best prices & terms for procuring requisite IT products & services.
  • Lead maximum financial benefit from all IT investments by evaluating IT projects through cost-benefit analysis.
  • Plan for and ensure optimal manpower costs within the department.



Infrastructure Support, Information Security, and Helpdesk

  • Review and evaluate the capability and adequacy of existing IT equipment and make recommendations for acquisition of new or replacement equipment with economic justifications.
  • Monitor ongoing maintenance and user support for all IT systems.
  • Oversee establishment of procedures for system and information security, data backup, and redundant storage and access norms for database administration and ensure adherence to the same.



Projects & Applications

  • Interface with partners and service providers to effectively meet organizational requirements in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Guide subordinates in development, maintenance, and constant back-end support to all end users.
  • Build continual awareness and training for all users of ERP.



Vendor Management

  • Evaluate vendor proposals and recommend purchase and installation of hardware/software based on cost-benefit analysis and market study.
  • Regularly monitor the quality of hardware and services provided by vendors and take corrective action in case of any deviations.



Operational Excellence

  • Drive timely documentation and preparation of all MIS reports; review and analyze variances and take required action.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation of all procedures of ERP implementation.



People Management

  • Provide inputs for the annual manpower plan and budget of the function, in consultation with CEO and Head - HR & Admin.
  • Drive a culture of performance amongst subordinates - set goals, review and manage performance, guide and counsel, and provide feedback on performance to ensure a motivated and committed team.
  • Develop the capabilities to take on higher responsibilities while performing the given/in-charge responsibilities at various levels within the functions.
  • Participate in succession planning and recruitment of critical senior & middle management positions within the function.
  • Oversee training of teams to meet the requirements of the role.
