Our client is seeking a commercial contracts lawyer on secondment to support the legal team in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts within the fashion and apparel retail industry. This temporary position requires a detail-oriented professional with expertise in legal documentation and compliance.

Job Description

  • Handle consumer complaints by reviewing submissions, refining draft responses, and coordinating with business and customer care teams.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate contracts while liaising with relevant stakeholders.
  • Oversee invoice processing and document execution, ensuring compliance with internal procedures.
  • Provide legal support to affiliated entities in India and Sri Lanka.
  • Contribute to brand protection, intellectual property, and government affairs initiatives.
  • Collaborate with vendors to finalize contractual agreements.
  • Monitor regulatory and legal developments, preparing impact assessments for internal teams.
  • Draft legal instruments such as authorization letters and powers of attorney, and assist the company secretary when required.
  • Supply documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Ensure adherence to established contract management and invoicing systems, resolving vendor-related issues as needed.

The Successful Applicant

  • LL.B./LL.M. from a recognized law school.
  • 4-7 years of professional experience in corporate law or related practice areas.
  • Strong expertise in contract law, Legal Metrology, and Consumer Protection regulations.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities.
  • Prior experience in the retail sector will be preferred.
